Safety on the water - fire protection on board

GRAMMER AVENTO Professional Line Seats comply with fire resistance requirements

Fire protection is a crucial aspect of ship engineering and construction. The potential for hazards if a fire breaks out on deck is considerable as evacuation is mostly difficult and frequently not possible without outside help. For this reason, components used must, for example, comply with the “non-combustible” requirement as defined in the IMO regulations. The GRAMMER Avento Professional Line seats now comply with these stringent criteria. The standard upholstery (fabric and synthetic leather) fitted to our spring-suspended seats for professional shipping has been successfully tested for compliance with fire resistance requirements. The seats satisfy the requirements with respect to fire resistance as defined in IMO FTP Code 2010, Annex 1, Part 8. At GRAMMER, ergonomics and safety are the two most important aspects in the development of our seats. Having already set new ergonomic standards in the marine segment, we have now also made an important step forward with respect to safety.
