John Deere Power Systems sets the bar high for engine life
John Deere engine in Dolpower generator clocks in at 188,500 hours of service
John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) strives to provide a powerful mix of product quality and maintenance support. The success of this approach was proven recently, when official dealer Dolpower B.V. in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, reported that the 3.9L John Deere engine in a custom-built Stamford 40-kVA prime generator had reached 188,500 hours of service. Based on this impressive result, the generator’s owner chose to replace the original engine with a new John Deere engine.
High power, low noise, convenient size
Dolpower specializes in building and integrating standard and customized generator sets and propulsions systems, and is an official dealer of John Deere engines in the Netherlands. Working closely with BeNeLux John Deere engine distributor NPS Diesel B.V., Dolpower offers John Deere-powered generator sets ranging from 30 to 500 kVA.
The custom Stamford 40-kVA prime generator was built 21 years ago for a Dutch inland waterway skipper. The original John Deere 3.9L engine was first selected for its smooth and silent running, its power and its compact size. Over time, the owner also noted its reliability, fuel efficiency and ease of maintenance.
After 188,500 hours running, the engine was still going strong, but the owner decided to replace it with another John Deere engine.
Careful maintenance triples lifespan
As a typical generator set generally lasts around 60,000 hours, the John Deere engine tripled its expected lifetime. Jacco Wagenaar, managing director at Dolpower, attributes this result to the product quality and conscientious maintenance. “The owner worked with us to ensure proper maintenance practices, carrying out all services at the scheduled intervals.
