After much anticipation the new MiniCat 420 ‘Laura Dekker Ltd. Edition’ was launched by Laura Dekker herself at the Dusseldorf Boat Show BOOT 2016 on Saturday 23rd January.

Laura Dekker, the world famous Dutch/New Zealand sailor who at 16 became the youngest person to circumnavigate the world and make headlines worldwide has long been a big fan of MiniCat, the lightweight inflatable catamaran.

She first came across MiniCat whilst stopping over in Panama during her epic voyage in 2009 when she watched a MiniCat 310 being sailed and tried it herself. She enjoyed it and soon became the proud owner of a MiniCat 310 Sport which she keeps stowed on her ketch ‘Guppy’ for fun sailing whenever at anchor. Laura kept her MiniCat with her as she continued her voyage and had lots of fun sailing with it whenever she could.

I was very excited to collaborate on the design of the new MiniCat and for it to have my name. I am sure that the owners of this great little boat will have as much fun as I do sailing it…”

Laura has now collaborated with MiniCat to design her own version of the best-selling MiniCat 420 model. The new boat is called 420 Laura Dekker Ltd. Edition and is available from February 2016.

Laura Dekker was presented, interviewed and photographed by many publications and TV productions on Sunday 24th January 2016 at the MiniCat stand in Dusseldorf. She was busy for the whole weekend talking to the customers and signing her book “One Girl One Dream”. This book is also one of the treats the new owners of her Ltd. Edition will receive with their boat.

And how is the new 420 Laura Dekker Ltd. Edition? In one word EXCITING !!!

The design is based on MiniCat’s most popular model MiniCat 420 Evoque with usage of carbon fiber items, matt finish of the frame, double coloured mast, fantastic eye catching design of sail & jib and newly designed trampoline with an embroidery of Laura Dekker Ltd. logo.

MiniCat 420 Laura Dekker Ltd. Edition will appeal to those customers who like to stand out of the crowd, for those who were waiting for a great high performance boat with colourful funky design of the sail.
