The Solarwave 64 combines the spaciousness of a catamaran with the sun’s renewable energy to create an efficient cruising yacht.

Solarwave Yachts presented its latest innovation at boot Düsseldorf 2017.

The Swiss company also makes a hybrid model and a sailing model—the Solarwave-Power and Solarwave-Sailor. They feature a combination of powerful twin diesels and solar-electric motors. The Sailor adds standard sails.

Cruising speed for the 64-foot Solarwave is eight knots, with a top speed of 20 knots. Its 42 solar panels generate 15 kW and charge a bank of lithium batteries weighing 590 kg. The batteries are guaranteed for 25 years.

Solarwave Yachts are built in three sizes—54, 64 and 74 feet—all with four double cabins. Hulls are built in weight-saving epoxy-carbon. The company claims these vessels are only half the weight of conventionally constructed and powered yachts.
