Superyacht of the Week: the stunning sailing yacht Sea Eagle

Built by Royal Huisman and completed in 2015, the 43.31 metre all aluminium sloop Sea Eagle features a fetching dark blue hull and white superstructure, and is the second vessel in a limited series of just three from the Dutch brand. She features both naval architecture and exterior from the renowned designer German Frers, with a chic and welcoming interior from Rhoades Young Design.

The team at Rhoades Young Design has utilised french walnut throughout her interior, setting an attractive backdrop for white oak floors, upholstered wall panels and birch wood accents.

The spacious deckhouse is sure to be one of the hubs of entertainment and socialising, with a cosy seating area and a separate dining area. The area is inundated with natural light from the large wrap around windows. The main cockpit and entrance to the main deckhouse salon are shaded by the generous overhanging coachroof.

On board she accommodates a total of eight guests over four cabins, all of which are located on the lower deck. The large owner’s suite is located aft, and includes a separate entrance to the stern beach deck, creating an elevated sense of privacy.

Two guest cabins accompany an additional ‘flex’ cabin, which offers the owner the opportunity to utilise this space as either a VIP cabin or a fully equipped gym area.

Moving on to her outside areas, the cockpit keeps guests socially connected under sail or at anchor, with a comfortable seating and dining area covered with an awning to enjoy the best of al fresco dining either in the open air or in the shade.

Another notable feature on board Sea Eagle is the aft beach deck. Two steps lower than the main deck the transom opens out to reveal a large swim platform and full-beam staircase where the beach area and platform offer easy access to the water.

Furthermore, a 5.2 metre Castoldi jet tender can be deployed from the transom garage by way of a hydraulically lowered ramp, providing the ideal launch pad for a day of water skiing or diving.

A high-aspect carbon fibre mast towers an impressive 57 metres above the water and carries upwind over 1,000 square metres of standing sail whilst a fixed keel drawing 4.5 metres and a displacement of just 200 tons ensures a thrilling ride under sail.

A powerful sloop beautifully designed and engineered to meet her Taiwanese owner’s plans to cruise the world and participate in the occasional superyacht regatta along the way, following her winter stay in the Mediterranean, Sea Eagle will spend the 2016 summer cruising the Baltics before heading westward to the Caribbean.

Commenting on his appreciation of sailing, her owner Dr. Samuel Yin, says, “Sailing is a very special activity. You can enjoy being relaxed on the sea or experience different scenery, you can be alone or witness things you’ve never seen before. It is the same as in life: it might not always be smooth sailing and there will be ups and downs. Nonetheless, as with life, it is very rewarding.”

Following the distinctive performance of the German Frers-designed Unfurled and Hyperion superyachts, Sea Eagle, has added her mark as the first entry for the 2017 St. Barths Bucket.
