New deck saloon version of Princess V58 unveiled

With its enclosed deck saloon, this version of Princess V58 adds year-round usability to what is an already very competent package

The deck saloon version of the Princess V58 is here and, as good as the V58 Open is, it’s the one with cockpit doors that is likely to be the most popular.

Reason being its versatility and how easy it is to use all year round; even in the depths of winter you can pump up the heating, close the doors and head off and, in the summer, the saloon can be set to a climate-controlled chill while you lap up the heat on deck.

The physical deck layout isn’t all that different to the Open version, though the storage bins and top loading cooler have had to go to accommodate the doors on the port side.

The overall feeling of the main deck is far more upper saloon than cockpit, though. Where the Open had teak decking all the way through and weatherproof grey upholstery, this version has more plush, cream materials and classy satin oak flooring.

Below decks the layout is identical to the Open boat with three cabins including an ensuite, full-beam midships master, ensuite VIP forward and a twin bunk cabin to starboard.

Whether the space where the lower dinette is could be put to better use, when there is such a comfortable deck saloon a matter of steps away, is a question worth asking.

Engine options are both from Volvo Penta, the largest D13 900s good for a claimed 37 knots, slightly down on the Open counterpart thanks to the added weight of those doors.
