The New Performance Cruising Trimaran: Tracer 1500TRi

Schionning Designs has unveiled its new performance cruising trimaran design – the Tracer 1500TRi.

At 15 metres and with a 10.2 metre beam, the trimaran aims to be competitive against the new era of large performance catamarans.

The 1500TRi has the distinctive Schionning aesthetic styling, as well as a practical and liveable interior.

Large spacious cockpit areas are located on either side of the cabin, with the helm stations positioned wide on the aft beam.

This gives excellent forward visibility, as well as clear sight of sails and telltales.

Lines run aft to the helms with winches and sail controls mounted close by for ease of operation.

A 19 metre mast can be rotating carbon or a standard alloy option.

The trimaran has fixed rudders on the floats, although the designers at Schionning stress the 1500TRi will still be able to beach easily.

Kick-up rudders are an option if desired and depending on the intended use for the boat.

A single 30-40HP diesel is the recommended motor option.

Below deck. the interior offers luxurious and private cabins.

The master queen cabin is located aft, and can have an en suite.

The second master cabin is forward through the galley.

An unusual feature of the 1500TRi is the float area, which is usually minimal storage or sail lockers.

However, this design has created additional accommodation in the form of two single cabins.

At anchor, these are ideal for guests or crew.

The cockpit sole is half netting and half hard deck.

This gives a comfortable combination of keeping spray down but giving good drainage.

The trimaran will be available in a pre-cut composite kit with detailed CAD drawn plans, suitable for both amateur and professional construction.
