New Tier 3 lineup from John Deere

US manufacturer John Deere Power Systems has announced that it meets U.S. emissions regulations with a complete new lineup of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Marine Tier 3 diesel engines from 74 to 559kW (99 to 750hp).

New PowerTechTM 9.0L and 13.5L Tier 3 propulsion and generator-drive engines join the previously announced 4.5L and 6.8L Tier 3 models, offering customers a full range of powerful and reliable engines for commercial and recreational applications.

The 6090AFM85 engine is available in four different propulsion ratings from 213 to 317kW (285 to 425hp); gen-set ratings include 195kW (261hp) at 1500rpm for 50Hz and 222kW (297hp) at 1800 rpm for 60Hz.

The 6090SFM85 model is available in five different propulsion ratings from 242 to 410kW (325 to 550hp); gen-drive ratings include 222kW (298hp) at 1500rpm for 50Hz and 278kW (373hp) at 1800rpm for 60Hz.

The 6135AFM85 engine is available in four different propulsion ratings from 272 to 429kW (365 to 575hp); gen-set ratings include 278kW (373hp) at 1500rpm for 50Hz and 334kW (448hp) at 1800rpm for 60Hz.

The 6135SFM85 model, the most powerful engine produced by John Deere, is available in five different propulsion ratings from 317 to 559kW; gen-drive ratings include 334kW at 1500rpm for 50Hz and 416kW at 1800rpm for 60Hz. The company says it is ideal for high-horsepower applications such as patrol craft, launches and workboats.

John Deere Tier 3 marine engines also meet current European Union emissions requirements (EU RCD) for propulsion engines used on recreational crafts and inland waterway vessels (EU IWV Stage III A). They also meet current limits established by International Maritime Organization (IMO) MARPOL Annex VI (IMO Stage II).

“John Deere Tier 3 marine engines offer customers hassle-free replacement options,” said Carl Micu, manager of North American engine sales for JDPS. “Our larger Tier 2 marine engines were developed with Tier 3 emissions regulations in mind, allowing us to transition to Tier 3 without significant hardware changes. These engines will provide customers with a similar package and performance while meeting the more stringent regulations.”

“In addition to emissions compliance, our complete Tier 3 marine engine lineup offers the power, reliable performance, long life, fuel efficiency, quiet operation, ease of maintenance and simplified integration that customers have come to expect from John Deere.”
