Gregory Marshall unveils 42m explorer superyacht

Gregory C. Marshall unveiles a 42m explorer yacht for Mondomarine and Northrop & Johnson…

Canadian superyacht design house Gregory C Marshall has unveiled a ‘multifunctional’ new 42m explorer concept for Mondomarine and Northrop & Johnson, with a new approach to the exterior layout. Named M42 Atlas, the new explorer takes the concept of a large exterior aft deck space found on a number of Marshall’s previous projects, such as 45m M/Y Big Fish, and introduces it to the Mondomarine portfolio.

With a gross tonnage that sits just below the 500gt threshold, the studio claims that optimising space was the priority in the brief. “Yacht owners, designers and builders evaluated the design plans from keel to mast to ensure every space is used to its maximum capacity.” There are five staterooms in the 42m yacht, including an on-deck master cabin and the option of combining two cabins on the lower deck to create a second VIP suite; a possible solution for a shared ownership arrangement.

Being an explorer vessel, carrying capacity and stowage is key for the long passages it has been designed for, with a fuel capacity of 75,000 litres and a range of 6,200 nautical miles. There is also dedicated storage for tenders and toys aft, including submarines and jet skis. The aft deck, which has a large swimming pool, can also be doubled for storage without compromising too much of the aft living space. Furthermore, there are a number of interesting additional exterior lounge spaces including the crow’s nest and the bow area.

Mondomarine’s activity is looking bright for 2017, with four deliveries scheduled with a combined LOA of 186.5m – 31.6m more than 2016.

The M42 Atlas is currently on the market with Northrop & Johnson, with an asking price of €24,500,000.
