Stiletto

DUBAI, Mina Seyahi. UK-based design studio Ken Freivokh Design (KFD), together with Dutch shipyard Oceanco, has unveiled a new 107m concept called Stiletto at the 2015 Dubai International Boat Show, which began yesterday. Based on the 145m Fortissimo, Stiletto is a sleek motoryacht with signature styling details.

“I was approached directly by Mr Al Barwani to work with the Oceanco team on this new project,” explains Ken Freivokh. “We’ve created a superyacht at the size he wanted using Oceanco’s existing platform. We initially planned to present the design at the Monaco Yacht Show last year but the model was not finished in time.”

On display at the yacht show is a model of the design along with an animation to give visitors a detailed overview of the displacement motoryacht concept, which features a protected forward outdoor terrace. Under retractable louvres is a large swimming pool surrounded by recliners and a bar, with a waterfall located forward that flows down from the top of the raised helipad platform. Another swimming pool is located aft on the main deck.

The general arrangement provides accommodation for up to 18 guests including the owner, across six en suite cabins and a VIP suite that can be converted into two guest cabins. The master suite is located on the owner’s deck, and offers panoramic views out to sea and over the aft swimming pool.

The double height salon allows plenty of natural light to flood the area and the inclusion of a multi-storey atrium and internal balconies creates a feeling of space and air. One of the main features of the interior is the glass lift and spiral staircase, which are capped by a large skylight.

Aft of the lower deck two shell doors open to reveal the tender garage with two 10m tenders. When launched, this space is used as a gym and includes a backdrop of the swimming pool and a couple of flat screen TVs and a full array of gym equipment. Other features of this design include a beach club and spa area, al fresco dining and a cinema.

Stiletto will offer a top speed of 18.5 knots from two MTU 16V2000 M72 engines, producing 1,440kW. These are combined with 500kW electric motors for improved efficiency.

“Stiletto has been designed to provide a seamless and all-encompassing experience,” says the designer. “From the exterior styling, the continuity of lines, long sightlines, to the integration of inside/outside areas. Even the tenders and toys have been developed to match the yacht in terms of looks, efficiency, quality, and attention to detail.”
