WWW

WWW by Ken Freivokh Design addresses the balance between creating a yacht that meets the needs of a family and the owner’s working life, without compromising either. Designer Ken Freivokh discusses the thinking behind the concept.

The 140m motoryacht WWW has been developed in response to a very specific client brief. Although largely intended for private use with a dedicated family area, it does incorporate comprehensive business facilities that also make it a truly efficient corporate platform.

Stand-out features of the design are the development of external areas to create amazing sea terraces forward and aft of the superstructure. Guests have the option to segregate themselves from children and noisy activities at one end of the yacht and enjoy the sun on recliners, or the gym and the pool, to suit their mood.

The striking pool seamlessly blends into a Japanese garden and waterfall en route to the two helipads and is closely integrated with a well-equipped gymnasium, which includes a spa/Hammam and sauna. The gym features ample headroom, having been set on a split-level arrangement to the convertible upper-deck VIP cabins.

The aft water feature and spa extends as a unique ‘waterway’ to form a striking feature, and a sub-floor stream runs under glass from the atrium all the way to the beach club, creating a central floor attraction for the art gallery. This leads to the beach club and

wet bar, where an array of recliners flank a spectacular triple-level waterfall.

At bilge-deck level, a fully fledged cinema has been developed surrounding an underwater viewing area.

At main deck level, the salon area includes a major double-height space creating a feeling of openness and volume. It is directly accessed from the multi-storey atrium, which also provides access to the mezzanine areas that overlook the more formal seating areas below. The effect is long sightlines and space integration between the various decks.

The atrium also leads to the corporate/business complex and includes a large conference room, offices, multi-media room and facilities for business meetings.

Privacy is not forgotten, and a full family deck ensures that the corporate and entertaining functions of the yacht do not interfere with family life. The glass-floored, multi-storey atrium is capped by a handsome radial skylight and leads to both the children’s cabins and the duplex owner stateroom where an internal and totally private spiral staircase allows the owner access to his personal study and sundeck. The layout results in a highly efficient division of crew and guest circulation to ensure that food service, cleaning and essential crew activities can proceed with minimum interference to guest activities.

Tenders and toys on board include a 16.7m submarine a 16.7m sportfish an array of Pascoe tenders, including a couple of 10m sportboats equipped for watersports and diving a pair of nine-metre beach-landing tenders and multi-purpose rescue/crew tenders.

The owner’s brief has resulted in a long, sleek, sporty yacht that emphasises and encourages outdoor living without attempting to cram maximum accommodation within the hull form. WWW will be a quite unique yacht.
