Last night at a press conference the noted designer Elie Saab launched the first of three designs in collaboration with Weyves Couture and Oceanco, a 117m design. Of the yacht Saab gave the following statement:
“I always sought to represent my vision of modernity and elegance beyond the conventional limits of fashion. Designing a yacht and conceiving its art of living constitutes a perfect opportunity to expand my brand’s universe by creating the experience of luxury.”
Donal Potard, Partner of Weyves Couture commented on Saab’s contribution to the design project, stating that “The Weyves Couture concept offers a level of distinctiveness to owners who wish to go beyond the conventional sense of luxury. Elie Saab is the only person who could have delivered a heady cocktail of power, balance and elegance in the design of this yacht in both its striking exterior presence and superior interior comforts." The yacht will be built by Netherlands based builder Oceanco, who hosted the press conference at their stand in Tent P at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, and who commented “We are excited to be collaborating with the development and realisation of this unique project. Our proven megayacht technology and recognised quality, spanning eight 80m yachts over the last five years, provides an ideal platform for Elie Saab and Weyves Couture to express their formidable creative talent.”
The yacht will feature a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure. Elie Saab has placed focus on the sense of space and refinement in his creative directive for the interiors of the ES117. Two private suites will feature along two owner decks, as well as 10 guest suites. Also featured are a swimming pool, whirlpool, a theatre, spa and gym. Additional features include a helicopter, submarine, car and water toys signed by Elie Saab, which complete the full onboard package. We look forward to seeing this design come to life at a later date.
