Halycon

Gill Schmid Design, formerly Impossible Productions Ink, has unveiled a new 110m superyacht concept following a series of focused investigations and design studies. Halycon is the first concept released after the New York-based design studio underwent a full rebrand and restructure for the first time since it was established in 2009.

One of the elements that sets this concept apart, is the ample use of glass and glazing throughout the yacht. In order to provide maximum privacy on board, a combination of white one-way glass has been used, which blends well with the white superstructure and gives the yacht a monochromatic effect. Furthermore, a portion of the reflective glazing amidships is curved to create undulating lines on the yachts profile, which also blends into the underside of the upper balcony.

“In this design the question of privacy was central,” comments Veronika Schmid, Gill Schmid’s owner and director. “Whilst the owner and guests have full access views to the ocean, views from the outside are restricted.”

In addition to its ample interior space, Halycon features six dedicated exterior lounge areas, with two glass bottom swimming pools, one on the main deck and one on the upper deck. The two are also connected by waterfall, which is framed by a large rectangular opening in the upper deck. There is also a full helicopter landing pad on the observatory deck in addition a retractable touch and go helipad on the main deck, which folds back into the transom section, between the two infinity Jacuzzis.

Halycon features a large owner’s suite, with his and hers saunas, six guest and two VIP suites, a casino, and a forward facing formal dining area. The yacht also has a fully equipped tender garage with enough space for two 10 meter tenders, an icon aircraft and submarine storage.
