Fairwei

SWEDEN, Vargön. Gray Design has announced a new collaboration with US-based Ronn Motor Group to deliver a compliment of superyachts with matching super performance hyper cars to the market.

The first of the superyacht designs to be presented is 105m Fairwei, which has a strong golf theme throughout and includes green areas where guests can practice the game. From the drive above the flydeck to the chipping and putting greens on the side wings and aft of the superyacht, Fairwei provides plenty of spaces for guests to enjoy a short game.

“Ronn found some of my work on Forbes and reached out,” explains Eduard Gray at Gray Design when asked how the collaboration came about. “We clicked immediately with similar visions of the future and what good design should be. I loved his smooth, featureless yet perfectly proportioned prototype and we found that there could be a very good basis for us to come up with future designs together.”

Although still under development Gray has revealed that Fairwei will provide accommodation for 10 guests and 24 crew and will be finished in a minimalistic style using simple colour schemes combined with crystal detailing. The interior will also feature an indoor swimming pool and spa area.

With a beam of 18m, the 105m motoryacht will be powered by a hybrid propulsion system with Caterpillar generators and lithium-ion batteries running electrically-powered screws.

“The Fairwei is the perfect partner for our soon to be announced exclusive 2017 RMG Bird of Prey,” comments Ronn Maxwell at Ronn Motor Group (RMG). “The final design of the hyper hybrid will be developed with Gray Design and is perfectly aligned with the Fairwei to provide a continuum of high performance experience for the customer from sea to land and back to sea.”

The RMG’s tentative development name Bird of Prey is an all-wheel drive hyper hybrid producing in excess of 1,200hp thanks to its Formula One electric drive technology. Reflecting the beauty of Ronn’s first offering called the Scorpion (pictured in the foreground next to Fairwei), Bird of Prey will be a limited edition with delivery of the first model scheduled for 2017.

The team has also revealed that there will be a limited release of the Fairwei and Bird of Prey set with an estimated cap of seven to maintain the exclusive nature of this initiative.

We hope to bring you more news on this project as it develops.
