Sunset Heaven

The 96m Sunset Heaven is the latest design to come from young Australian designer Christopher Seymour, whose last concept was the 122.5m Alpine. Designed with classic lines, timber features and modern styling, this is a modern classic that takes inspiration from one of the oldest wooden motorboat builders in the world, Hacker.

“My uncle recently launched his Hacker-Craft, Marguerite, which I love and think is absolutely beautiful,” Seymour told SuperyachtDesign. “I loved the plum bow, flare, beautiful tumblehome, timber and stainless steel work.” Seymour began drawing up some concepts primarily in the region of 80 to 90 feet. “I then began to realise that there wasn’t anything in the superyacht field with these unique design features above 70 metres, so Sunset Heaven came to life.”

With this unique source of inspiration, Seymour has created a superyacht with novel styling. The retro plumb bow is attractive, but also has the effect of creating a more efficient hull, which extends the waterline to improve the displacement/length ratio. Additionally, it has a superfine entry for less resistance, spray chine to reduce wetted surface area and it creates minimal lift. Seymour has also hidden the anchors to help improve the flow of water and air across the surface of the hull. When combined with diesel-electric propulsion and pod-drive units, the vessel’s potential overall efficiency and long range distance is impressive.

Seymour has designed Sunset Heaven’s interior layout to enhance the owner, guest, and crew experience as much as possible, ensuring that the space encourages efficiency. The owner’s deck will be a truly exclusive space. Forward, you will find the owner’s suite, with its impressive open views of the ocean. Behind the suite will be a large lounge, dining, and private bar. A second galley will also be located on this level to make the dining more efficient.

Interestingly, Seymour has increased the crew living space from 15 per cent to 30 per cent of the overall interior habitable volume of the yacht, meaning the bottom deck is pretty much all dedicated to crew, featuring the crew cabins, mess, lounge and main kitchen. This deck will also have its own spa, lounges, bars on either side on the aft deck and a pool and sun chairs forward for more private relaxation space.

Towards the stern plenty of tenders and toys will be available for use, including one RIB, three jet skis, underwater scooters, two small sailing dinghies and a dive centre. There will also be a second tender that will be custom-designed by Christopher Seymour with similar styling to Sunset Heaven.

Christopher Seymour Designs will be launching a new website soon.
