VGD's Open 90

The Open 90 concept, a 90m creation from the Holland-based studio Van Geest Design, is in the very early stages of design and is being developed for an undisclosed European shipyard.

“The Open 90 pursues the interactions between the interior and exterior, extending the living and lounge areas to the exterior in a terrace arrangement,” explains Project Manager Pieter van Geest. As part of the design, the studio has incorporated systems and safety equipment in the bulwarks, with the forward and aft sections framed with glass for a clear view outboard.

The current GA would be able to accommodate 16 guests on the main deck, where the guest lounge area is also found. On the lower deck, a spa and wellness area is envisaged with crew spaces and cabins for 22 crew found amidships and extending forward with exclusive service circulation that cuts through all decks. Forward of this is the tender garage.

A helipad has been included on the forward bridge deck, with the main suite and owner/guest entertainment area aft. The full-beam owner’s suite benefits covers some 360msq on the owner’s private deck, which is connected to the upper deck and features a 360-degree panoramic salon with exterior lounge area.

With an all steel structure, the initial speculative specification allows for a maximum speed of 24 knots, but propulsion systems and engines have yet to be announced.
