Cafiero 90m

With its elongated design and assertive lines, the latest 90m motoryacht concept to come from Italian naval architect Carlo Cafiero is an unusual one. Much like the Tail Hull concept, this superyacht is designed to present an aggressive, aerodynamic silhouette.

One of the more interesting features is the distinctive coloured polycarbonate wings towards the stern that provide protection for the pool and relaxation areas, while still enabling views of the horizon.

As well as the more conventional use of lightweight aluminium alloy for the hull and steel for the superstructure, Cafiero has used orange polyurethane to construct ‘pillows’ on the side of the hull, much like the ones seen on the Tail Hull concept. A design feature specially conceived by the studio, these could act as both inflatable boats if needed and as a form of external fender.

According to Cafiero, the motoryacht would feature a hybrid propulsion system and be capable a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots, with a range of 6000 nautical miles.

The distinctive rollaway platform has been designed to be used as a landing platform for an Agusta Grand helicopter, with a spacious hanger located in the stern.

The yacht will be able to accommodate up to 30 guests, in what Cafiero calls ‘flats’ and ‘super suites’, and 30 crewmembers, all spread over five decks.
