NC 131

German design house Newcruise has been working on a new 88.5m concept. Based on an intensive briefing from an experienced yacht owner and his captain, this turnkey project promises to be a displacement world cruiser with a difference.

With subtly curving lines at the fore that contrast with the straight lines aft, the megayacht superstructure has a low-slung profile with a beam of 14 metres and while it will feature a spacious main deck, the design really focuses on a sleek and streamline hull for efficient sailing. This shape will allow the superyacht to achieve the most economical fuel consumption possible with a speed range of 14 to 16 knots.

Newcruise describe the planned interior as “not overdone and very light and jaunty” and will aim to give it an overall classic tone, with elegant touches and a lot of character. The most impressive feature has to be the undeniably striking glass floor directly above the dining area. During daylight hours this surprising aspect will provide an unobstructed view over a remarkable two-storey shelving unit housing stunning works of art, while at night the glass floor will transform into a dance floor, colourfully lit up by various lights linked to the glass.

Newcruise have used glass throughout the yacht to seamlessly blend the boundaries between not only the various decks levels but the interior and the exterior. Examples of this are the six-metre windows in the split-level main salon and gallery, or the three large bay windows offering unparalleled ocean views in each of the two VIP cabins.

In total, NC 131 will contain nine cabins and an owner’s area that will have its own private deck with study, lounge, salon and two terraces, plus a dining and salon area on the main deck and a bar and games area on the upper deck.
