Vard books order for live fish transporter

Vard Holdings Limited has secured a contract for the design and construction of a live fish transportation vessel for Fjordlaks Aqua in Ålesund, Norway.

The Vard 8 50 design vessel is scheduled for delivery from Vard's Aukra shipyard in Norway in third quarter 2018. The hull will be built at Vard Braila in Romania.

The Vard 8 50 is an innovative and modern live fish transportation vessel with a flexible diesel electric propulsion system. The vessel, with a length of 60.5 meters and a beam of 14 meters, has been developed for efficient, safe and sustainable operations.

Vard Executive VP Mr. Magne Håberg said, "This contract is in line with Vard's strategy to expand our broad product portfolio and services for the aquaculture business. I am pleased to welcome Fjordlaks Aqua to Vard, and we look forward to cooperating with their team in this project."

CEO of Fjordlaks Aqua, Mr. Roger Hofseth, said, "Ordering this vessel is a critical part of our strategy to have in-house control of all vital parts of our operations. The vessels in the series are developed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway, with a high focus on environmental sustainability through innovative solutions.
