Ocea unveils its latest superyacht: Project Nemo 50 Ice

French shipyard Ocea has unveiled its latest project, superyacht Nemo 50 Ice. Created together in partnership with Aldo Marina, with an exterior designed by Fulvio de Simoni, the 50-metre all-aluminium superyacht was conceived to travel around the Antarctica region for an extended period of time.

Project Nemo 50 Ice is set to feature an extremely technical design to ensure it is able to brave the seas at high altitudes while offering her guests a comfortable and luxurious journey. For example, her tenders, rigid-hulled inflatable boats and landing crafts can be launched and recovered easily using project’s dedicated handling equipment and her davits are the same as those used by the brand’s military ships to handle landing crafts h24 safely.

Her design concept also features a unique design solution for Antarctica exploration. Project Nemo 50 Ice will feature a dedicated technical area on the forward of the raised deck, which is able to accommodate hiking equipment. In addition, the planking level in this area is less than one metre above the waterline to ensure her guests are able to access the tenders swiftly.

She will be able to accommodate up to 10 guests in an area which has been created in order to maximise their comfort during their long stay onboard. For example, the owner’s apartment features a full-width design that covers the fore portion of the main meck and houses a private lounge as well as a large, private bathroom with space for a sauna. Project Nemo 50 Ice is also able to accommodate a crew of 10 in the crew quarters, which has direct access to the workshop and control room through a central passageway in the lower deck.

The engine room will house twin CAT C32 1450HP engines, which will give her a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. At an economic speed of 10 knots, Project Nemo 50 Ice has a range of 5000 nm. Her shafts are integrated into dedicated structural skegs in order to protect them, together with the propellers and two rudders should the hull hit an iceberg or other partially submerged objects on her journey.
