Turquoise’s new 53m project Tala on track for 2020 delivery

Gaining traction at the Turquoise shipyard in Istanbul is the Turkish builder’s high-volume contemporary 53-metre motor yacht project Tala. With her hull and superstructure now complete, work on the interior has begun taking shape, with the builder confirming that she will be ready for delivery in 2020.

Designed inside and out by DeBasto Designs, Tala measures 700 GRT and is spread across three interior guest decks with a large sundeck perched at the top of the yacht. “With Tala’s enormous volume, my objective was to make the exterior less bulky and give a feeling of a forward dynamic movement, rather than a static feel,” says Luiz DeBasto. “I wanted the design to show movement and purpose from any angle. I achieved this with the long ascending line from the swim platform all the way up to the mast and down to the pilothouse windshield.”

With everything oversized on board, it is no surprise to find a massive swim platform at the stern that simplifies and makes tender operations far safer and more convenient for guests and crew. The fun continues inside with a gym and sauna on the beach deck.

Throughout the yacht, DeBasto has incorporated natural separations between crew and guests with secret alleys on both the main and lower deck to enable non-intrusive service when needed. In addition to the six cabins that sleep 12 guests, Tala will also be the permanent residence of her 10 crew members.

Guests can look forward to an interior that is just as sophisticated as the outside, with Luiz’ wife, Cristina, leading the interior design of the project. Large windows will cast natural light onto the endless precious woods and other natural materials that will characterise Tala’s living spaces.
