Torqeedo increases power output

At the Metstrade show in Amsterdam this morning, Torqeedo introduced more powerful motors and batteries.

In 2019, Torqeedo will have new Deep Blue 100 kW motors available in a low-rpm version for displacement boats and a high-rpm model for planing hulls.

After teaming up with BMW in 2017 to adapt lithium batteries for marine use, Torqeedo has upgraded the battery with a new Deep Blue 40 kWh model that features a capacity increase of more than 30 percent in the same footprint and an energy density of 144 Wh per kg.

The 30 percent increase in energy and density extends to Torqeedo’s 24-volt batteries. Renamed the Power 24-3500, the new units have an energy density of 138 Wh per kg.

On the smaller side, Torqeedo adds the Travel 1103 to its motors designed for tenders and sailing dinghies. For Kayaks, the Ultralight 403 A has a new mount designed to facilitate installation and new functions for control and transport.

“By delivering more power, more energy, more silence and more convenience, Torqeedo honors its commitment to improve customers’ boating experiences and advance marine electric mobility every year,” said Christophe Ballin, CEO of Torqeedo, in a statement.
