MERCURY LAUNCHES MULTI-ENGINE CONTROLS

Mercury Marine has launched a new range of electronic controls designed for multi-outboard engine configurations.

With an increasing proportion of the recreational boating market moving towards larger vessels powered by multiple high-powered outboard engines, the company has expanded its multi-engine controls to now support five and six engine applications.

Kris Neff, Mercury Marine's vice president of global category management and strategic planning, said the solutions are engineered to address the dynamics of operating multiple engine set-ups on larger boats.

Engine contribution

"To match or exceed what we have already been doing with two to four engine configurations required significant research and software programming to maximise the contribution of each engine in various manoeuvres and throttle setting," he said.

The new system includes Mercury's digital throttle and shift (DTS) controls, automatic heading and route settings, Mercury's Active Trim automation and Joystick Piloting for Outboards technology.

Many of these features require the use of a 7in or larger screen on Mercury's VesselView user interface which displays data on all five or six engines together on a single screen.

Mercury Marine outboards are distributed in the UK by E.P. Barrus
