Azimut 78: Triple IPS power for new Italian flybridge

The biggest model in the Italian yard’s flybridge range, the Azimut 78 will be good for a top speed of up to 30 knots

Slotting in the gap between the Azimut 72 and the Azimut Grande 25 Metri, the Azimut 78 is the latest addition to the yard’s range.

As with previous Azimut launches, there will be liberal use of structural carbon fibre to keep weights down – specifically in the superstructure, flybridge, hardtop and cockpit.

Where the Azimut 78 differs from its stablemates however, is in the styling department (Alberto Mancini penned the sleek exterior) and the engine room (triple IPS 1200 or 1350 pods will be available). The interior will be offered in two styles by Achille Salvagni – only the first of which is detailed so far, with a flexible lounge area that can be quickly converted from daytime relaxing to hosting dinner parties.

Below decks, the Azimut 78 will get a four-cabin layout, including a master suite, two VIP cabins and a twin. And as you might expect from a yacht of this size, there will be a crew cabin – situated forward with private access to the helm and galley for added guest privacy.

Azimut has yet to reveal a launch date for this new 23.6m yacht, but a debut at the Cannes or Fort Lauderdale boat shows seems likely.

The spacious foredeck looks set to be a popular spot for relaxing al fresco
