Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas has announced plans for a redevelopment at Haslar Marina in Gosport.
Currently undergoing the planning permission process, the plans include a new powerboat centre, a team base for Alex Thomson Racing and a marina extension. It is hoped that work can begin towards the end of the year.
Michael Prideaux, Dean & Reddyhoff MD, said it would be a major investment for both Haslar and the local marine industry. “The redevelopment has come about in response to customer demand and changes in boating habits with increasingly larger sailing boats and greater numbers of powerboats. In order for us to remain fit for the future, it is critical that this hugely exciting development gets given the go ahead.
“It will secure the future for Haslar Marina for the next 25 years and beyond,” he said.
The Alex Thomson Racing Team has been based at Haslar Marina for over 15 years. The new base will become a UK centre of excellence for ocean racing including a world-class boat shed, training facilities and visitor gallery.
Powerboat centre and more berths
The new powerboat centre will include an upgraded public slipway, a specialist repair and service centre, sales centre hub, public waterfront footpath and 28 new car parking spaces.
Other proposals include a new wave screen and marina extension providing 50 new deep water berths and a clubhouse with a new waterfront location for the marina restaurant.
