95m Lürssen superyacht Madsummer begins sea trials
The 95 metre Lürssen superyacht Madsummer has begun sea trials in the Baltic Sea.
Marine Traffic shows the yacht underway on sea trials after departing the German yard.
It comes after the yacht, which was previously known as Project Fiji, hit the water for the first time on March 19.
Sold in September 2016 by Moran Yacht & Ship, this steel and aluminium yacht features exterior design by Harrison Eidsgaard — a first for the London-based studio. Laura Sessa Design has been handed the interior design brief, which was previously described as "contemporary modern".
Speaking at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show, Rob Moran revealed that Madsummer had been bought by an American client. "He has been a great client of ours for 15 years. We’ve built many boats for him before.”
At the same event, Moran also reported that the superyacht would have a 12 metre superyacht swimming pool, huge spa and big diving areas. Madsummer will also be helicopter-ready, storing a helicopter on the bow, and capable of worldwide cruising. Accommodation is for up to 20 guests split across ten spacious suites.
Other key features include a superyacht beach club with a sea terrace, as well as a skylight in the upper deck aft that guests can walk across and an integrated fireplace.
Other large superyacht projects currently under development at the German yard include the 142 metre Project Redwood, now known as Opus, which is scheduled for a 2020 delivery.
