Vetus will show its new Bow Pro Boosted thruster at Seawork 2019.
This is the second-generation version of the BOW PRO with developments including an inbuilt voltage converter and charger that enables the thruster to boost output to up to double the voltage.
The thruster motors are 24V with the converter enabling charging of the 24V battery pack from a 12V source which halves the stock keeping requirement of having both 12 and 24V versions.
“This enables the same thruster to be fitted to any boat regardless of whether the rest of the boat and the charging systems are powered by 12 or 24V,” explained Stephen Baker of Vetus UK.
“It also means that we have been able to increase the range of thrust outputs up to 130kgf in a tunnel diameter of just 185mm.”
Operating with CAN-Bus protocol, Bow Pro Boosted thrusters have a choice of two different control panels – the fully-proportional basic panel and the fully-proportional panel with local and hold function for easy docking which allows the boat to be held alongside to pick up or drop off crew or dock single-handed.
