CHEC Bags USD 600 Million Ghana Port Deal

China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), an engineering contractor and a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), has been chosen to construct a USD 600 million Free Port in Atuabo, Ghana, Xinhua news agency reports.

Philomena Kuzoe, Atuabo Free Port’s External Affairs Officer, confirmed to Xinhua via phone that CHEC was chosen as the main engineers for the project located some 200 miles west of the country’s capital of Accra.

The new Free Port will be located in the vicinity of Ghana’s first gas processing infrastructure, recently completed by another Chinese company – Sinopec Petroleum.
