Combined package

Austrian headquartered lifting equipment and daughtercraft specialists Palfinger Ned-deck and Palfinger Boats have sold a combined package with davit and fast rescue boat to Tersan Shipyard.

The Turkish shipbuilder Tersan Shipyard has won an order from Tidewater USA for the construction of a multi-purpose platform supply vessel. Designed for arctic operations, the platform supply vessel will be operated by the Norwegian Troms Offshore Supply Group, a fully owned subsidiary of Tidewater.

Palfinger Ned-deck is providing one PRH 35 H davit set suitable to handle the FRSQ 700 rescue boat having a total mass not exceeding 37.5kN with its full complement of persons and equipment. The lifting system will be fitted with shock absorber, wave compensated winch and ice kit package for operation under icing conditions. Palfinger Boats is providing a full aluminium Fast Rescue Boat suitable to carry 10 persons according SOLAS regulations. The FRC is equipped with two Steyr 190HP engines coupled to Hamilton 213 water jets which gives a top speed above 40 knots.

Attached to the Tidewater USA order is an option for a further three vessels of similar design. Tidewater reportedly required a compact design with a high deadweight, thus providing maximum cargo capacity. The chosen design also features good operational efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. Furthermore, the vessel will be readied for cold climate conditions according to the DNV DE-ICE class. This notation includes requirements for maintaining safety and vessel operability in ice, under icing conditions, and at low temperatures.
