SENER develops Multipurpose Subsea Support Vessel

Spanish ship design firm SENER is developing a new Multipurpose Subsea Support Vessel specially designed for subsea ROV (Remoted Operated Vehicle) light construction duties, for world-wide service

The ship will have a length overall of more than 112 m, a length between perpendiculars of more than 100 m and a breadth of 22 m. The depth to main deck will be 9 m and draft will be more than 7 m. It will offer accommodations for 110 persons.

The diesel electric vessel will have two FP (fixed pitch) azimuthing main propellers, two FP tunnel thrusters and one FP retractable azimuthing thruster.

It will feature a 40 MT electric deck crane, with an option for a 250 MT unit, and will be able to work in 4,000 m depth.

The main deck will be reinforced for heavy loads and the vessel will have an integrated 7.2 m x 7.2 m moonpool and a helicopter deck.

The design provides for the ship to have an optional 600 t cable carousel.

Over the last ten years SENER has been widely involved in tugs and offshore vessels and its experience and know how in this shipbuilding segment has seen it participate in significant projects world wide.

FORAN update

SENER is, of course, the developer of the FORAN CAD/CAM system and leverages its knowledge in ship design to improve its software capabilities.

SENER has updated the Naval Architecture modules of FORAN. Version V70R3.0 launches an FBASIC module that will replace the former Naval Architecture Calculations modules and incorporates new features to ease the generation of documents and perform calculations. It can be easily installed on board vessels designed with FORAN to be used as a Load Calculator, using all the vessel information incorporated in the design. This functionality is being tested for use onboard Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels.
