London Design Week 2015 preview

Will having an early look about the interior trends and products that will be available in spring next year.

UK, London. Last week Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour (DCCH) hosted its press preview for London Design Week 2015, offering an early look at the interior trends and products that will be available in spring next year.

While most of the furnishings, fabrics and fittings on display are embargoed until next year, SuperyachtDesign can give readers a hint at a couple of the trends to come and what to look out for ahead of the event, which will take place on 8th to 15th March 2015.

An overarching theme across all brands on display was a kind of polished luxe. While past seasons have seen a tendency towards a more rustic luxury — unfinished edges, unpolished metals, simple fabrics — it seems that Spring 2015 will bring with it some polish. “It will be all about glamour,” says Becky Metcalfe, PR manager at DCCH. Gold, brass and metallic finishes can be seen in everything from the new furniture pieces from Bolier — the result of a collaboration with American design firm Dakota Jackson — to the Petra Bel-Aire chandelier from Wired Custom Lighting, to the brass hardware from The Nanz Company.

One trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere is that of accenting chic monochrome schemes with bold pops of colour. The preview saw the Salon armchair from Donghia upholstered in its grey Shirley textile — a linen weave boosted with specialty fibres — was paired with cushions covered in bright Vancouver leather from Whistler Leather. Eclectic new designs from fabric house Pierre Frey’s Braquenié brand, known for its Indian fabrics, cottons and toiles de Jouy, brought in colours along with international influences. On display from Turnstyle Design was a selection of its design-led hardware featuring leather in a vibrant burnt sienna orange.

While we may not be able to reveal many more details of the upcoming collections right now, SYD will bring you more news on what to expect as the full program is revealed and will be reporting on the event during the week.
