Morning sessions of the Asia Pacific Yachting Conference

The SuperYacht Times team are currently in Singapore ahead of the opening of the fifth edition of the Singapore Yacht Show. Over the next two days, we’ll be attending the Asia Pacific Yachting Conference (APYC).

Established in 2009, this year’s APYC is themed “Towards World Class” and will be co-chaired by Martin Redmayne of The Superyacht Group and Tim Coventry, Special Advisor to the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, Korea. Today started with a welcome to the Conference from Andy Treadwell of Singapore Yacht Events.

The first keynote speaker was Martin Redmayne of The Superyacht group, who presented an overview of the global superyacht industry as well as explored the position of Asia in the global perspective. This was followed by a presentation from Dr. Safri Burhanuddin, the Deputy Minister for Sciences and Technology and Maritime Cultures, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime affairs, Republic of Indonesia, Aji Sularso of Sail Indonesia Tourism, and Ismail Ningz of GAHAWISRI. The three speakers presented a strategic vision of Indonesia as a maritime nation.

After a short tea and coffee break, presentations continued with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Kingdom of Thailand shared how the country is creating new horizons for marine tourism, followed by a talk on luxury yacht charter from Allan Jouning of 37 South Yachts.

The networking lunch is being sponsored by Tourism New Zealand, and all guests are now enjoying good food and conversation amidst networking opportunities.

The conference will continue after lunch.

The Singapore Yacht Show will take place from 23-26 April 2015 at ONE°15 Marina Club.
