The Singapore Yacht Show to host two conferences

This years addition of the Singapore Yacht Show will play host to two significant conferences; the 7th Asia Pacific Yachting Conference (APYC) and the inaugural Asia Boating Forum (ABF).

The APYC will feature senior officials from the governments of Thailand and Indonesia as keynote speakers, outlining initiatives being taken to ensure a warm welcome to superyachts heading east for the winter season, including the creation of the necessary policy framework that will facilitate yacht charter in the region.

Since inception in 2009, the APYC has developed into the only regional industry platform for the leisure marine professionals from the Asia Pacific region and beyond. In partnership with MTU, this year's APYC will be themed ‘Towards World Class’, and will address the issues, challenges and opportunities of the region.

Co-chaired by Martin Redmayne of The Superyacht Group and Tim Coventry who is the special advisor to the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, Korea, industry and business leaders will take to the stage at the APYC to share their journeys to achieving world-class performance in their respective fields. New for 2015, the APYC has also announced a collaboration with the British Marine Federation (BMF) to showcase UK companies at the Conference, providing BMF members with the opportunity to meet potential distributors and buyers from the region.Held over the course of the morning, the inaugural ABF - themed the “Essentials of Emerging Markets of Asia” - will be a region-wide review of the Asian markets. Panel sessions will then follow on the business of boating, infrastructure and services, marine policy development and both financial and asset management structures.

Though each country has its own policies, regulations and practices relating to boating, for boating to grow regionally, all countries have to level up and develop best practice. The Asia Boating Forum is a platform for just that – getting the foundation and policy framework right for growing the boating industry.
