Wim Van der Valk begins construction of first 24m Continental Trawler Yacht

Construction has begun on the first 24-metre Continental Trawler Yacht, at the Wim van der Valk Yard in The Netherlands.

The 24-metre flybridge yacht is the first of a new series of semi-custom Continental Trawler Yachts designed by Guido de Groot that are available in different sizes. The new range was launched due to customer demand for a superyacht-size long-distance passagemaker in the hardy trawler style. Last year, Boat International reported on plans for a Wim Van der Valk 28m Continental Trawler superyacht.

The 24-metre model combines a round-bilged hull with semi-displacement capabilities and the manufacturer says she will be good for 18 knots with twin V8 MAN engines each offering 1,200hp. The hull and superstructure will be constructed entirely in aluminium to reduce weight.

A 6.8-metre beam allows for a capacious interior and means she will live up her long-range capabilities in terms of crew comfort as well as practicality. There is room for eight guests on board, in four cabins, with a crew of up to four people accommodated at the stern. Guests have the large flybridge to enjoy as well as various outdoor spaces, including forward in front of the wheelhouse on the main deck.
