GOODBYE, SEASICKNESS!

Boarding Ring® glasses create a virtual horizon that eliminates seasickness

Summer is approaching in the northern hemisphere and preparations for the big holiday sailing trip are beginning everywhere. Time to look at a product that could be the solution for all of us who know (and hate) turning pale at the first arriving waves. Boarding Ring® is a pair of funny-looking glasses that are supposed to mitigate sea sickness. This DAME award winning invention from France aims at eliminating the root cause of the unwelcome nausea whereas other remedies, such as drugs based on dimenhydrinate or scopolamine, just tackle its symptoms.

The principle is rather simple: When travelling, no matter if by car, plane or boat, the human brain receives different information from the eyes than from the internal ear which is responsible for our sense of balance. This conflict is especially strong inside a boat, where the horizon – as a fixed point of orientation – is invisible. This misalignment of information causes our sense of equilibrium to revolt: seasickness is the consequence. The Boarding Ring® glasses have four rings, each half filled with a blue liquid, that levels according to the boat’s movements and thus provides an artificial horizon, even when inside a boat. 12 minutes shall be enough to fight emerging symptoms – without any side effects. Finally, they can even be worn over normal glasses. Too good to be true? Let’s give it a try and hope for a relaxing summer cruise!
