PERFECT HEADING WITH TRUE HEADING

Swedish AIS-specialist presents the world’s smallest GPS-compass

Small, smaller, the world’s smallest! This is the most popular attribute of the Seapilot Vector Compact, a lightweight GPS-compass (working with satellite-data) for pleasure crafts up to 40 feet in length. It was launched by Swedish AIS-specialist True Heading AB under its brand for navigation applications, Seapilot. Besides the extraordinarily small size (neither longer than 25.5 centimeters nor heavier than half a kilogram), it is a highly accurate navigation device since GPS-compasses do not struggle with deviation as conventional fluxgate and magnetic instruments do. The Vector Compact transfers high speed GPS-positioning data to other navigational instruments on-board such as chart plotters, radars and AIS-overlay or autopilot. Regarding interface options, both an NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 configuration are available.

The question of where to mount the compact Vector Compact on-board a pleasure boat (no matter if it’s a sailing or powerboat) is easily answered: (almost) wherever you want. Unique antenna and receiver technology shall overcome common satellite multipathing problems and therewith allowing flexible installation.

With all these characteristics, it is no wonder that the Seapilot Vector Compact was among the nominees for the 2014 Design Award METS (DAME) in the marine electronics category. Not long probably until the little compass will become the skipper’s new best mate.
