New Ferretti Custom Line 108 superyacht

The new 108 will make its debut next summer

Ferretti has announced it will produce a Custom Line 108 superyacht, an addition to its Planing range.

The Italian yard says the first two hulls have already been sold into Europe and promise that the new boat will break new ground in design and technology. The 108 will inherit much of the DNA of the Custom Line 100, no longer in production but which sold 14 models in the three years since it was launched. The Ferretti Custom Line series was started in 1996 to meet the demands of owners in the market for personalized yachts larger than the production Ferretti range, which at the time ran from 12m to 25m. The Custom Line Planing range comprises a 97 and 124 – and now includes the 108 – while the Navetta range comprises 28m and 33m models.

The new 108 will make its debut next summer and is the product of a collaboration between Ferretti’s research and development department and design firm Zuccon International Project. It is characterised by larger interior volumes than the 100. LOA is 32.95 metres (108ft 1in) and the beam is 7.25 metres (23ft 9in), creating one square metre more on the main deck and the flybridge than the 100.

The aft area also features more space thanks to Ferretti’s patented electrical-hydraulic system, Dual Mode Transom (DMT). This enables the aft transom doors to be opened upwards and downwards and creates a float-in garage fitting a five metre tender and jet ski, with a 15 square metre beach club. Elsewhere the new 108 is marked by large amounts of glazing, notably in the master suite, giving panoramic views and increasing natural light. The hull windows of the four guest cabins have also been widened and now come in a rectangular shape. The main deck has been extended by eight feet and boasts a new layout that sees the cockpit dominated by a large sunbathing area with a sofa and chaise longue which can face forwards or back. The central table seats eight people.

Up top, the completely customisable flybridge covers 36 square metres. There is an outdoor dining area, sheltered by a hardtop cover that can be fitted with a sliding Bimini top. Here guests can also enjoy a cocktail bar with a sink, bottle cooler and an icemaker.

Each 108 owner can work out the interior design with Ferretti according to their personal tastes, but on the initial model, Ferretti will use a mix of dark oak wood, leather, nubuck, marble and a light-shade parquet on the flooring. Ferretti’s interior design team have put a lot into the lighting, with LED spotlights specially designed for this model built into all ceiling panels and backlit edges to all the furniture in the main rooms. Meanwhile the Custom Line 108 will be equipped with Ferretti’s VOTIS – Videoworks One Touch Infotainment System. This is a fully integrated entertainment system which can be managed from an iPad.

The new project comes with two MTU 16V 2000 M94 engines at 2638hp each, giving a predicted maximum speed of 26 knots and a cruising speed of 23 knots, with a range of 350 and 430 miles respectively. At 12 knots she should have a range of around 1000 miles.

Stefano De Vivo, Ferretti Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, said, “We have bettered a product that was already a winner, implementing on this new 108-footer many extraordinary innovations, including a patented Dual Mode Transom system and the VOTIS infotainment system. Our choice has been immediately endorsed by the market. Two hulls have already been sold, bearing witness to the fact that difficulties can be overcome by betting on world-class quality.”
