WORLD’S BIGGEST CARGO SHIP IS THE MARY MAERSK

One of Maersk’s “Triple E” series

When the Mary Maersk left Ageciras, Spain, with a world-record-breaking 17,603 TEU containers aboard, she wasn’t even operating at her full capacity. But we suppose that it is good to follow the safety restrictions. The ship broke the world record for highest number of containers on a route between Europe and Asia with a voyage that began on July 21st, 2014.

This supersized ship can carry the highest number of containers ever loaded on a vessel for a single trip with a full capacity of 18,270 TEU containers that has not yet been reached. 17,000 containers is actually more than twenty-foot equivalent unit shipping containers! However, one thing is certain, for the foreseeable future they will continue to get bigger. The Mary Maersk should enjoy its record while it can.
