The world's first hybrid motor boat from the innovators behind the Hydroptère

HYDROS, the innovative Swiss company behind the ultra-speedy, ultra-famous Hydroptère, recently presented their latest project in Cannes and Monaco. Called the HY-X, is the first motorboat that both flies and floats. At the autumn boat shows, the HYDROS team presented an experimental prototype that is half the size of what will eventually become a 41-foot yacht.

Thanks to the foils, the experimental prototype is more comfortable and more responsive with less bumps and less vibration. Seasick-prone passengers can rejoice! And since the foils are fully retractable, the boat is actually a hybrid. It can be used as a “traditional” floating boat or offer passengers the full “flying” experience.

As with the company’s other projects, the HY-X is also eco-conscious and reduces fuel consumption by at least 30%. A multipurpose vessel, it can be used for lake and ocean cruising or even maritime transport. The prototype has definitely piqued interest in the yachting industry, and we can’t wait to see its future full-sized evolution.
