Cheoy Lee introduces new designs at the Fort Lauderdale boat show

Introducing the new superyacht designs

During the Fort Lauderdale boat show, Cheoy Lee Shipyard introduced new superyacht designs, created in collaboration with Jon Overing Yacht Design. The One Eleven concept builds off the sporty Cheoy Lee Express Yachts the company has been rolling out in recent years, which includes the sleek and speedy 76 Express, 76 Express Flybridge and 87 Express Sportbridge Alpha models. Designed to have crossover appeal for both the express and traditional motor yacht customer, the One Eleven has increased volumes and fuel capacity – not to mention length – than the Cheoy Lee Express series to give her a true motor yacht feel.

‘We will now literally have a yacht design for every ocean-going style and taste,’ says Cheoy Lee’s Express Project Manager Gene Weeks. ‘We can customise many aspects of the interior and exterior layouts and create a different look because of our modular construction. Like building blocks, Cheoy Lee can assemble the desired configuration combining precisely fitted pieces, offering flexibility with structural integrity.’

The other new design goes back to Cheoy Lee’s route of steadfast explorer yachts. Fittingly, the first of these is the Cheoy Lee Explorer 150 superyacht. This marks an update and redesign of Cheoy Lee’s popular long-range explorer yachts. A single Caterpillar 3512B engine provides power, with a diesel propulsion engine forward as backup. The large rudder and hydrodynamic bulbous hull are expected to deliver 35 per cent lower fuel consumption. With an increased fuel capacity, she will be able to travel 7,000 to 9,000 nautical miles. The next-generation explorer yacht will also boast luxury styling, superyacht amenities and have expanded living spaces, inside and out.
