Mondo Marine presents SM45 motorsailer superyacht at Fort Lauderdale boat show

During the Fort Lauderdale boat show 2014, the new SM45 motorsailer superyacht was introduced by Mondo Marine

Italian superyacht builder Mondo Marine will present the design for its new SM45 motorsailer superyacht, Project Amerigo, during the Fort Lauderdale boat show 2014.

The 45-metre, tri-deck yacht is a collaboration between Mondo Marine and designers Michele Ansaloni and Massimo Franchini, who is renowned for motorsailer and long-range cruising yacht designs. The motorsailer design is offered as a take on a ‘hybrid’ yacht – one that is an all-seas yacht, capable of maximum of autonomy and low fuel consumption and environmental impact.

The Project Amerigo superyacht will be constructed entirely in aluminium alloy. The hull design has been optimised to offer low resistance and excellent stability. The SM45′s propulsion system comprises an 800kW diesel engine that operates an adjustable pitch propeller to add thrust to the sails, and when the engine is off, the propeller can be utilised to minimise resistance. The ketch-rigged yacht will have a sail plan of 850 square metres with a square-top mainsail and a design allowing for easy handling by owners and a small crew.

On the main deck forward is the dedicated owner’s suite with a private terrace, and aft on the main deck is an ample main saloon and dining room. Four guest staterooms are found on the lower deck, including two VIPs.

In 2015, Mondo Marine will deliver the M60, the yard’s first 60-metre yacht, and its 40-metre SF40, both built in aluminium. Then 2016 will see the delivery of its most recent new order, the Mondo Marine 50 metre superyacht.
