SVETLANA MIKHAILOVA RETHINKS THE VAPORETTO

The iconic waterbus of Venice gets a second break

If you have already had the chance to see Venice, and visited one of the most beautiful cities on Earth, you probably had the privilege of taking a “Vaporetto“. They are the old, noisy and stinky waterbuses that pollute the city carrying enthusiastic tourists up and down the Grand Canal and to the various islands surrounding Venice. Russian designer, Svetlana Mikhailova, had the idea of a new waterbus for Venice. The project is called “Mira” and it’s supposed to be hydrogen powered. Its goal is to correct all the little imperfections of the current “Vaporetto” and create a silent and eco-friendly ride for the numerous tourists of the floating city. The new design will have the actual proportions of the “Vaporetto”; in order to preserve the shape of the iconic boat!
