A new boating concept with a retractable hardtop

The Reversys Boat is a concept boat of Swiss design with an intriguing feature: a retractable hardtop.For years, retractable hard tops have been a feature in the automotive industry, so Pascal Vuilliomenet (system designer) and Laurent Clément (industrial designer) took on the challenge of applying the same technology to a boat.

Obviously, space was the primary issue because of limited storage capacities at sea. As a solution, the hardtop, when open, is transformed into a space for sunbathing. Problem solved. When closed, the hardtop serves to protect the boat from damage and poor weather.

The design of the boat is inspired by North American racing boats from the 1920s with a V-shaped hull, full-length deck and a back-set cockpit.
