Barracuda unveils classic sailing yacht design for JFA at the Monaco Yacht Show

Revealing the new design for a 38 metre classic sloop sailing yacht during the Monaco Yacht Show

Barracuda Yacht Design has revealed its new design for a 38 metre classic sloop sailing yacht at the Monaco Yacht Show. The classic aluminum sloop concept was designed in collaboration with Barracuda’s long-time client JFA Yachts who has already built a modern 25 metre sailing yacht and two classic sailers – a 25 metre and a 21 metre – to Barracuda designs.

‘She’s a logical contination of what we’ve been doing with JFA,’ says Iñigo Toledo, owner of Barracuda Yacht Design. ‘She’s sleek, stylish and at the same time sporty. She’s perfect for a superyacht regatta.’

Intelligent details include keeping captive winches and most other deck gear down below, for a clean deck, and placing steering positions forward of the aft deck seating area, so that guests don’t feel as if the captain is looking over them during sailing.

With a maximum sail area of 720 square metres, the yacht has a tall rig built for a 365 square metre high-roach mainsail, self-tacking inner jib, large genoa and a gennaker flown from the bow. With high aspect ratio rudder and a fully retractable deep bulb keel that extends to a 4.6 metre draft, she was built for fast cruising. She is also equipped with a 750hp engine.

She accommodates guests in three spacious double cabins with comfortable bathrooms and wardrobe space, though her design could be modified to a four-cabin layout. Her on deck saloon and clutter-free foredeck offer impressive views.

The aft deck sports a large dining table seating eight people and a separate lounge area. Partially protected, there is also space for sun-loungers and fishing activities. Her stern also has a fold down transom, which offers sea access for tenders and guests’ water entry.
