Turning on the style

UK, London. May 2015 saw the launch of British door hardware brand Turnstyle Design’s exclusive ‘Industrial Chic’ collection, showcasing its Vintage Matt Nickel and Vintage Dark Patina ranges. These ranges can now be seen exclusively at the company’s showroom at Design Centre East, Chelsea Harbour.

“We have seen a key trend this year for more Industrial vintage style metals,” says managing director, Steve Roberts. “With a lot experimenting we now have our Vintage Matt Nickel and Vintage Matt patina finishes for our metalwork parts. The two finishes sit extremely well between our Fine Antique brass and our Dark Bronze finishes.”

Within the interior design sector the concept of urban chic – bare red brick and concrete – has certainly made an impact and fine details are just as important to the eye as the larger picture.

The launch of the new ranges in the London showroom provide an ideal opportunity for clients to see and touch the products and see the detailing and quality up close.

Each labour intensive patina is applied by hand, the nickel and brass must be patinated and then the metal is hand brushed to create the final texture. The new vintage finishes can also be applied to a variety of Turnstyle’s current products creating an evermore-diverse portfolio to choose from.

“As a design led company we combine materials, textures and finishes to produce beautifully made handles that can sit well in a broad church of design styles,” says Roberts.

Further to the 2015 launches Turnstyle has continued its work with leather. Combining handcrafting and British manufacturing Turnstyle has added a range of tan leather handles to bridge the gap between its more natural chestnut and dark chocolate leather products already on offer.
