Seawork Innovations Showcase 2015

The Spirit of Innovations Showcase at Seawork 2015 will allow visitors and exhibitors to see the latest projects, products and vessels that ‘push the envelope’ of ideas and provide new solutions.

Located in Seawork's undercover exhibition area, the Innovations Showcase is judged in six main entries: vessel design and construction; marine civil engineering and construction; marine equipment, electronics and materials; diving and underwater technology; renewable energy and safety and training. A Certificate of Commendation is awarded to the winner of each category.

To qualify, all entries must have come to market in the previous 12 months and provide a valuable insight into the latest in design, technology and applications.

2014 winners

Last year’s overall Spirit of Innovation winner was MarShip UK for its Extended Drain Interval (EDI) system which was specifically developed to extend oil life in engines or closed lubrication systems such as hydraulic systems, gearboxes, thrusters, azimuths and stern tubes etc.

The ‘Training’ title went to MYMIC for its Marina Safety Simulation Training, the ‘Propulsion’ category to E P Barrus for its 180HP Diesel Outboard Motor, the ‘Diving and Underwater Technology’ category to Atlantas Marine for its Dextera subsea manipulator and the ‘Safety’ category to CQC for its Fibrelight Stretcher.

The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award was Jack Gaston, whose first article on tugs appeared in 1965, and the Seawork Maritime Professional of the Year Award was presented to Luke Webster of PM Shipping.
