The pitch: Portsmouth-based nautical tech company S.C.P. Marine Innovation has created what it claims to be the world's first underwater jet pack - and one of the best new water toys. Aimed at snorkelers who wish to explore without the equipment and qualifications of scuba diving, the x2 Sport wearable jet propulsion system features a backpack battery and control system and arm mounted thrusters to allow you to glide effortlessly through the water.

Cost: The company aims to raise $35,000 through crowdfunding with pledges spanning $5 - $10,000

Return: As always, you get what you pay for. So, while $5 will only get your name on the company's hall of fame, larger amounts reap returns ranging from T-shirts and hoodies to early bird price offers on the jet packs and even a custom built x2 Sport.
