CANNES 2015: WORLD PREMIER OF THE MONTE CARLO 105

Monte Carlo Yachts has officially presented the much-awaited Monte Carlo 105 at this week’s Cannes Yachting Festival 2015.

Initially unveiled to coincide with the Italian shipyard’s five year anniversary, the 32-meter yacht represents a new flagship for MCY. It is also the largest vessel in MCY’s fleet and offers an impressive beam of 7.12 m as well as limitless possibilities for customization. As with the shipyard’s other models, naval architects Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard of Nuvolari Lenard headed up the design.

Remaining true to MCY’s signature style with striking bulwarks and a high bow, the Monte Carlo 105 resists the temptation to be trendy while still remaining modern. The three-deck design cleverly incorporates a raised pilothouse, flybridge, Portuguese deck and a master cabin on the main deck within a sleek, elegant exterior. The main cabin also features a full beam and large windows for plenty of natural light.

Surprisingly light, the fiberglass yacht is laminated with four tons of Kevlar and carbon fiber to ensure exceptional strength and speed as well as reduce fuel consumption. The design features an aeronautical-inspired monocoque structure, which means that the hull and deck provide most of the vessels strength. Incredibly intelligent, this means that the interior layout can be entirely customized and the yacht is easier and faster to build because most of the interior modules can be built outside rather than being built directly in the hull.

As for speed (always important), twin 2434-hp MTU 16V 2000 M93 engines power the Monte Carlo 105 to speeds of up to 27 knots with a cruising speed of 23-24 knots. It will be in Cannes through the weekend before heading to the Monaco Yacht Show at the end of September.
