TACKING MASTER IS TACTICAL SUPPORT FOR THE SAILOR’S WRIST

A tiny, watch-like device that helps keep you on course

Are you an early bird and already hunting Christmas presents for your sailing friends? Well, the Tacking Master could be the ideal gimmick for the racers among them. The small tactical navigation device is designed to facilitate the analysis of wind changes and bearing lines during a regatta. Worn around the wrist just like a watch, the tiny instrument is always at hand. The necessary settings need to be carried out in three adjustable rings of the portable device: The compass ring for the wind direction, the mark ring for the indication of the windward mark bearing and the lock ring to safe the settings.

Now one glance of the tactician – or whoever is wearing the waterproof Tacking Master – tells if the bearing of the mark (or of start and finish line) is perfect or if the yacht’s course should be altered. Of course it can also be used as a portable compass and indicate tacking angles on the way to the windward mark of the racing course.

The invention from Denmark is a great addition to standard technical racing equipment on board of big boats and a perfect support for small boat sailors without the space for huge instruments. Let’s see if the Tacking Master’s promise is kept: to “sail smarter” with it…
