The latest model from Scorpion joins Ben Ainslie's America's Cup team before heading to the fall boat shows
The Cannes Yachting Festival is less than six weeks away, and Scorpion RIBS will be premiering the Scorpion 1080 Jet Lander. Part of their 10M range, the Scorpion 1080 incorporates a touch of comfort and elegance in a functional chase boat. Based on the company’s iconic Sting hull, the hull of the Jet Lander is resin infused and vacuum sealed to make the boat quicker, lighter and stronger. It is equipped with a Hamilton Jet Drive and available with a choice of inboard diesel engines that range from 370hp to 480hp. “The materials used in the new boat mean it’s lighter and more environmentally friendly than our previous models, and has enabled us to reduce the size of the engines and the weight of the boat which has increased the top speed of the craft,” said the director of Scorpion RIBS, Patrick Byrne. The Jet Lander most recently joined Land Rover BAR, Sir Ben Ainslie’s America’s Cup team, as part of their fleet of chase boats. It made its debut as part of the team at the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in Portsmouth this past week.
However, the Jet Lander is not just suited to chasing. The wider deck and large range of configurations also make the Jet Lander an ideal day boat with seating for up to 16 guests and weather protection is available for all seats. It is suited to sunbathing, water sports or simple transportation. A rear bathing platform allows quick access to the water for swimming or wakboarding, but it also comes equipped with carbon fiber beaching steps. And, this fall, visitors to Cannes and the Monaco Yacht Show will get to experience the full range of custom configurations from upholstery to full height heads.
